multiplying and dividing by powers of ten

Hey guys,I was wondering if someone could help me with multiplying and dividing by powers of ten? I have a major assignment to complete in a couple of weeks and for that I need a thorough understanding of problem solving in topics such as syntehtic division, triangle similarity and radicals. I can’t start my assignment until I have a clear understanding of multiplying and dividing by powers of ten since most of the calculations involved will be directly related to it in some form or the other. I have a problem set, which if someone can help me solve, would help me a lot.

Thanks for the detailed instructions, this seems awesome. I needed something exactly like Algebrator, because I don't want a software which only solves the exercise and gives the final result, I want something that can really show me how the exercise has to be solved. That way I can understand it and next time solve it without any help, not just copy the results. Where can I find the program?
